Wednesday Warmup: Ready for the 70s?

Finally some fine fall weather. Wednesday will be a warmer day for most of Montana. A broad southwest flow will increase through Tuesday night and Wednesday. This will bring warmer temperatures in the 60s and 70s through most of the state. After the rough, cold beginning to fall, this weather is a pleasant treat. Not only will it be warmer but partly to mostly sunny skies will make for a great day. After Wednesday the weather will go downhill as temperatures start to go backward. A cold front will move through later Thursday with an increase in wind and an increase in showers and mountain snow along and west of the Continental Divide. Highs will reach the 50s and 60s. Cooler air will filter into the state on Friday with highs down in the 40s and 50s. A strong west wind on Friday will also make it feel cooler. As temperatures drop, snow levels will lower. Snow will not be heavy, rather snow showers will fly in the mountains. The lower elevations will have a mix of rain and snow showers that will most often be light and spotty. Saturday will have a stronger low pressure move into southwest Montana with more widespread rain/snow in the lower elevations and snow in the mountains. Several inches of snow could accumulate in the mountains south and west of Helena toward Butte through the higher terrain of southwest Montana. Much of central and eastern Montana will be dry but mostly cloudy. Sunday will be a cool, mostly cloudy day with scattered rain/snow showers in the lower elevations. The mountains will have snow showers with a little accumulation possible. Another storm system could come through next Tuesday with a chance at a more significant snow event.
