There are two primary concerns for today: strong winds and rain. A HIGH WIND WARNING is in effect for north-central Montana until 6 pm. Sustained winds could get as high as 40 mph, with gusts reaching up to 60 mph. Rainfall is also pushing south through the state, and will continue through the afternoon. Friday will bring about new changes in the weather. As temperatures drop below the freezing point, rain will transition to snow.
A WINTER STORM WATCH has been issued for most of north-central Montana the Friday evening to Sunday afternoon. The Rocky Mountain Front is under a WINTER STORM WARNING for that same time frame. Strong winds and heavy snowfall could create blizzard conditions for the Rocky Mountain Front.
Light but persistent snowfall will accumulate throughout the weekend. There is the possibility of a few flurries remaining on Monday, but the weather will finally clear out by mid next week.
