Rain and mountain snow moving through today

It's a showery end to the work week, and a dreary end to the summer season. The Autumnal Equinox on Monday marks the first day of Fall.

Showers will pick up in southwestern and central Montana this afternoon and continue overnight tonight. Areas above 8000' in southern Montana will see snowfall, but lower elevations will just have rain to contend with. There is a winter weather advisory in southern Montana for counties along the Wyoming border, and Yellowstone Park. This is in effect until tomorrow afternoon.

Saturday will start with spotty showers for north-central Montana, but skies will clear by the afternoon. An approaching high-pressure trough will arrive on Sunday, bringing a dry and warm end to the weekend.

Next week- the first week of fall- will be cooler with a few chances of rain.
