Friday is the start of a brief warm-up. The high temperatures will rebound back into the middle to upper 80s and low 90s. Light winds blowing from the east will allow smoke-free conditions.

Saturday, expect even hotter temperatures than Friday. The high temperatures will top out in the 90s. A shift in wind direction will allow smoke and hazy to move back in, which will impact the air quality.

Sunday will be mostly to partly sunny and hot. Daytimes highs will climb into the mid to upper 90s and triple digits in eastern Montana. The ridge that will contribute to hot temperatures over the next few days will begin to break down, allowing a period of breezy to windy conditions during the afternoon/evening and choppy conditions on area lakes. The combination of hot temperatures, windy conditions, and low humidity will increase fire danger.

By next week, a pattern change will bring widespread showers and relief from excessive heat.

Have a great weekend.
