The heat is on. A hot airmass continues to grow and will impact Montana and much of the West through the weekend. Heat Advisories extend into western Montana. For parts of Washington, Idaho, Oregon, Utah, Nevada, California and Arizona are under Excessive Heat Warnings. Isolated thunderstorms are likely to pop in the afternoon heat each of the next few days. The storms will be very isolated in nature, meaning that more locations will be dry than get rained on. The storms could offer a brief cool down from the heat. Storms will also create more lightning strikes and erratic wind. And a few heavy downpours could get you off the hook for watering the garden. High temperatures will remain in the 80s and 90s, with a few areas eclipsing 100 on the Hi-Line and in east-central Montana into Monday. Monday afternoon a cold front will kick off scattered thunderstorms and bring some brief relief with slightly cooler temperatures for Tuesday and Wednesday.
Have a good day.
