A RED FLAG WARNING is in effect for southwestern Montana for dry thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. The warning area does not extend as far north as Helena, but there will be thunderstorms later tonight in the area. Overnight, storms will continue to push northeast, reaching Great Falls by early Friday morning. North-central Montana will have a showery, stormy Friday to end the work week.
A low-pressure system approaching from our west is the mechanism for changes arriving at the end of this week. Cooler temperatures and widespread rainfall will be the name of the game this weekend. The low will finally pass through on Sunday, and our weather will become drier and warmer for next week.
