Weekend Weather Staying Mild

Happy Friday!

This week has been a rollercoaster- first sunshine, then snow, then sunshine again.  The good news is, nice weather will prevail for the weekend.  As high pressure sets up over the western United States, Montana will stay mostly sunny through the weekend.  While a very small disturbance will bring a slight chance of mixed rain and snow to the Capital City on Sunday afternoon, it doesn’t pose too much of a threat. Any precipitation will be brief, with trace amounts of accumulation.

The Vernal Equinox is on Wednesday, March 20th.  The equinox marks the beginning of Spring for the Northern Hemisphere with equal hours of daylight and nighttime.  Meanwhile, the Southern Hemisphere is transitioning into Autumn.  Once we move past the equinox, daylight hours will continue to increase until we hit our maximum in June, during the summer solstice.

With the continued above-freezing daily high temperatures, flood season is upon us.  Next week, as temperatures approach the daily averages, melting will continue quickly.

Have a great weekend!
