A HIGH WIND WARNING has been issued for much of central Montana for a storm that will move in on Tuesday. A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY has been issued for the mountains along and west of the Continental Divide for that same storm Tuesday into Wednesday. For the last several weeks, much of North America has been locked in a pattern where storms come in from the Pacific but weaken as they move inland. Mountains west of the Continental Divide see the majority of the snow with little falling east of the Divide. This pattern also has produced stronger wind east of the Divide. This next storm will follow this pattern as heavy snow will fall in the mountains of Montana west of the Divide, and a stronger wind blows east of the Divide. Temperatures will remain mild for the last few days of autumn, highs will reach the 40s and 50s. The first day of winter is Friday, and winter just may finally show up. The overall pattern should begin to change with colder air and some snow moving in on Friday. It does not look like a huge snowstorm, but some snow will fall east of the Divide. Temperatures through the first weekend of winter will be colder, and a little snow could move across the state again on Christmas Eve that could put down enough snow for a White Christmas!
