A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY has been issued for Friday for most of central Montana. Friday, a cold front will move through the state in the morning hours. Temperatures will start out above freezing when a mix of rain and snow begins. However, temperatures will fall into the 20s with snow falling for most of the day. Roads will be slippery as icy conditions could develop under the snow. Accumulation will be light, generally a couple inches in the lower elevations. The mountain passes and higher terrain will see several more inches. Temperatures will tumble into the 0s and 10s Friday night into Saturday morning. Saturday will be a sunny but cold day for the entire state. Anyone heading to Missoula for Cats-Grizz should bundle up with game-time temperatures near freezing. Leave some extra time for the drive over there as well, with slippery roads lasting into Saturday morning. Sunday will be mostly sunny but wind will increase again off of the Rocky Mountain Front.
Looking long range, next week will be mild and dry through Wednesday. Travelers should have no issues heading to Thanksgiving festivities. However, snow showers are possible on Thanksgiving and the Friday after.
