A RED FLAG (FIRE WEATHER) WARNING is in effect for a large portion of the state including Western, Central, and northern Montana today and tomorrow.

A FIRE WEATHER WATCH is in effect in Eastern and Southeastern Montana.

A HEAT ADVISORY has been issued for Northwest and North- Central Montana for extreme temperatures today and tomorrow.

An EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING is in effect for Eastern Montana today and tomorrow, where the heat will be more intense and long-lasting.

Fire danger, low air quality, and extremely hot temperatures are all concerns for today.  Afternoon highs could easily break records today, challenging some all-time highs ever recorded.  Many areas will be in the triple digits today.   Stay hydrated today and be careful!

The hot weather is going to stick around into Saturday as well.  Temperatures will reach into the triple digits again, and isolated thunderstorms are possible in Central Montana during the afternoon hours.  Additionally, as winds pick up, fire danger will be high.  Sunday, temperatures will cool slightly, but the big relief won’t come until Monday when temperatures will be back down into the upper 70s and 80s.

Be careful outside this weekend. Stay cool!
