A HEAT ADVISORY has been issued for locations across Northern Montana starting Thursday at noon.  This will continue until Friday night when temperatures will begin to cool off.

A FIRE WEATHER WATCH will go into effect starting Friday afternoon through Saturday night.  A front will come through Saturday, increasing wind speeds and fire weather danger.

AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING in Southeastern Montana will go into effect Friday at noon.  High temperatures in this area will be very hot, and the potential for heat-related illness will be high.

The heat is on! Thursday and Friday’s temperatures will challenge all-time record highs in Montana.  If you’re going to be outside in the afternoon hours, make sure to take precautions such as drinking plenty of water, dressing appropriately, and avoiding intense outdoor activities in the afternoon hours.  Bring pets inside during the heat of the day, and offer plenty of water so they can stay hydrated, too.  Also, be mindful that the temperature inside a car can reach a dangerous, potentially fatal level in a matter of minutes.  Double check before you lock your doors!

Air quality will continue to be less- than- great until the end of the work week. A front coming through this weekend will help clear out smoke and improve air quality.

Saturday, temperatures will still be quite warm, cooling off by the evening.  Winds will pick up, which will increase fire weather danger this weekend.  Sunday and Monday, temperatures will be back in a more comfortable range.

Stay hydrated and safe today!
