Slight relief from extreme heat

Today's temperatures will be slightly cooler, thanks to a cold front that has pushed into northern Montana today. Thursday, bigger changes will arrive. Showers and thunderstorms will develop in the afternoon in southwestern Montana, and push north into the Helena area by the evening hours. These storms will continue overnight into Friday morning. While Great Falls could see a few showers on Thursday evening, Friday will likely be a rainier day.

As low pressure approaches from our west by the end of this week, cooler, wetter weather will prevail. This weekend will bring widespread rain and cooler temps throughout the state. By early next week, the rain will taper off, and temperatures will climb.
