HELENA -- With high schoolers not returning to their campuses this school year and COVID-19 cancelling prom for those eligible, one group of Helena mom's are doing what they can to make up for it.
"We hatched this idea of the Bruin Bengal junior senior summer prom, and we've really hit the ground running," said Denise Wolf, one of the organizer and mother to a senior at Helena Capital.
Wolf said the organizing committee has most of it's plan in place for the July event and hopes with enough fundraising, they can offer the event free of charge in hopes the money that would go to tickets will be put back into the local economy.
"We're pretty confident we can put this together as a free event to the juniors and seniors and that would be our biggest gift that we could possibly give to those kids," said Wolf.
Wolf said any monetary donations can be made to the Helena Summer Prom Non-Profit LLC at any Valley Bank location in Helena, and anyone looking to donate any time or resources can reach out to the organizers on their Facebook page.
