Rain to Douse Fires and Clean Smoky Air

Posted
and last updated

Everything changes on Friday. The summer heat? Gone. The smoky skies? Gone. The fire danger? Almost gone. Showers and thunderstorms will move throughout the state on Friday will good precipitation. Temperatures will be much cooler as well with highs in the 60s and 70s. Yes the thunderstorms will produce lightning but these storms will be wet with a healthy amount of rain soaking the ground. Rain will continue into Saturday morning for central and eastern Montana, with a few lingering showers toward the Continental Divide. By Saturday afternoon there will be partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the 60s and 70s. Another storm will move in later on Sunday spreading more rain and thunderstorms through the state. Rain could be widespread through Sunday night into Monday. Most of next week will be more like fall with cooler temperatures and showers or rain possible every day. It may even be cold enough for mountain snow above 8,000'.
Have a great day.
