The school summer meal program in Polson has scheduled a date to reopen after a district food service worker tested positive for COVID-19.
The school district suspended the summer meal service on July 29 after the positive test was confirmed.
The meal program is set to reopen on August 10 at all seven meal distribution locations across the district.
Polson Superintendent Tom DiGiallonardo says three workers in close contact with the positive employee received tests that came back negative.
He says a large number of employees have also self-quarantined for precautionary measures.
“The biggest concern is just the health and safety of our workers, and the employee that tested positive just felt horrible that this happened and that we had to stop our food services,” said DiGiallonardo.
DiGiallonardo said the free meal service will run until the first day of school scheduled on August 26.
