Former President Barack Obama met privately with Montana Gov. Steve Bullock in Washington, D.C., as Democrats make last-minute pushes to recruit candidates for the U.S. Senate, according to Politico .

The meeting was confirmed by a Bullock adviser while he was in town for the National Governor's Association winter meeting, according to the D.C.-based online newspaper.

Bullock, who ended his presidential bid in December , has repeatedly resisted calls to challenge Republican U.S. Sen. Steve Daines this year. He is prevented from running as governor again by term limits.

After the Obama meeting, a Bullock aide told Politico the governor still has no interest in the Senate seat.
