Missoula's Ronald McDonald House celebrates expansion

Almost one year to the day of breaking ground, Western Montana's Ronald McDonald House has doubled in size.

A Monday ribbon cutting ceremony celebrated an expansion that doubled the number of rooms available from eight to 16. CEO Amy Peterson says the Missoula Ronald McDonald House turned away 72 families last year because they didn’t have room.

She says the $3.1 million expansion was necessary to help meet the needs of the community and that community support has helped make this vision become reality.

“We’re so humbled and grateful for the incredible support that we’ve received. This allows us to raise up our friends and neighbors during some of the most difficult days of their lives," Peterson said. "So we’re very fortunate to have the Ronald McDonald House here in Missoula, and this is just going to help us serve these families even more so.”

Children who have stayed at the house or had family who stayed provided the visual numbered countdown to the ribbon cutting.
