Salish Kootenai College in Pablo has a lot to offer students, but it's deceptively hidden from US Highway in the Mission Valley.
SKC has a lot to offer prospective students from certification programs to four-year degrees. The college showed off their wide variety of programs to high school students from around the state on Friday.
“A few of my friends really liked the business programs and liked the art department from what I heard. I'm looking forward to seeing the psychology department and the education department," said Ronan High School sophomore Layla Pretty On Top.
“Information technologies it seems interesting. The unmanned aerial system that's cool" Thompson Falls High School freshman Breck Ferris said.
Besides finding out about all the cool programs SKC has to offer students also had important questions to ask about the next step in their education.
“I've been asking what type of scholarships SKC has, and what type of fields I can go into afterwards but overall, it's been a good experience," Ferris said. "There's a lot more scholarships and a lot more fields than I thought there was going to be.”
Some high school students already knew what program they wanted to go into, so the day was about learning what to expect when they got to school.
“I was mainly looking for how much and how much time I would be spending. For dental I would be spending nine months to get my certification to become a dental assistant”" Pretty On Top said.
Students had a chance to see what classes inside programs would look like.
“It was really good it was enjoyable I got to take an X-ray of teeth so that was fun, and I got to clean teeth I guess, and I got to spray and suction out water,” said Pretty On Top.
It is the first year of the event that SKC hopes to host every year. SKC officials also say they had some interest from schools outside the state who hope to attend next year.
