High School counselors are encouraging seniors to continue to apply for scholarships.
There are still many scholarships available to students during this pandemic.
One example is the Virtual College Signing event (example pictured above). Seniors are encouraged to post a photo of themselves with #MTClassof2020 detailing which college they will be attending and what they plan to do there. Photos will be entered for a chance to win $500 scholarships and other prizes such as iPads and air pods.
At Capital High School, they have added to this competition. With the use of #NextLevelBru along with #MTClassof2020, they are going to give students gift cards for local businesses around Helena.
Both high schools in Helena have a long list of scholarships available to keep students busy in quarantine.
“This is an unusual time but this is also a really great opportunity because they are not sitting in class 6 to 7 hours a day and when I talk to students, some of them are able to get work done in 2 to 3 hours a day, which gives them time to work on scholarship applications,” says Jeramie Robinson, a counselor at Capital High School.
Many scholarships have May 2020 deadlines so it is not too late for students to get involved.
