East Helena Boy Scouts are raising money for summer camp by selling picnic tables.

The Troop 212 Boy Scouts put in hands-on work to build these picnic tables. RY Timber donates the wood for the boys to build.

This picnic table fundraiser began in 2017 with 30 tables sold. The goal for 2020 is to sell 75 tables. Each picnic table costs about $225.

The money will be used for the Boy Scouts to go to camp in Yellowstone Summer 2020.

According to the scouts, this week-long camp gives the boys a chance to complete merit badges to move towards Eagle-scout ranking.

Other than the camp, the scouts say they learn life skills when building the tables.

“They’re fun to build and they teach us many life skills. Power tools. It also teaches us how to use power tools,” says Andrew Madsen, a Troop 212 boy scout.

The boys are set to begin building the picnic tables in April 2020.

The scouts have a Facebook page to pre-order or buy picnic tables. The Facebook page is here: Troop 1212 - Picnic Table Build.
