Gallatin Valley Farm to School celebrated the fall season with its sixth annual Farm to School Feastival at Rocky Creek Farm.
The festival featured kids’ activities, a pumpkin patch, as well as food vendors and a taste-test of local recipes using fresh produce.
The event was put on to help spread awareness about the work Gallatin Valley Farm to School is doing in the community, while promoting local agriculture and teaching kids about nutrition and local food systems.
“The events we have here are connecting kids to where food comes from. So we have things like butter making with local cream,” said Erin Jackson, education director at Gallatin Valley Farm to School.
“We have wheat grinding, we have also have some fun activities like pumpkin bowling and make your own cutting board so that you can go home and cook with it,” she said.
Gallatin Valley Farm to School is a non-profit organization in Bozeman that works to supply students with local, fresh and seasonal foods.
They have agricultural education programs that visit schools across the community.
