BOULDER — Jefferson High School in Boulder reported their first case of COVID-19.
According to Superintendent, Tim Norbeck, Jefferson County Public Health notified the school that a student had tested positive on Sunday, September 13th, 2020.
Jefferson High School switched to remote learning that Monday to give nurses time for contact tracing. All those in close contact with the student are now quarantined.
The superintendent states they clean the entire school every Friday and decided to clean the school once more on Monday before students returned to in-person classes on Tuesday.
The school says they followed all safety guidelines set by the county and the governor’s office to bring students back in the classrooms on Tuesday, September 15th, 2020.
As of the morning of September 18th, 2020, Jefferson County has 8 active cases of COVID-19, 44 individuals have recovered.
