(UPDATE, 10:37 am Friday) The Great Falls Police Department said in a news release that the crash involved three vehicles, including two motorcycles, at 2nd Avenue North and 44th Street.

According to the GFPD, the male driver of the car did not see two westbound motorcycles on 2nd Avenue North and hit one of the motorcycles, causing it to collide with the second motorcycle.

Both male motorcycle drivers sustained injuries and were taken to a hospital. One of the motorcycle drivers is in critical condition, while the other sustained minor injuries. The driver of the car did not sustain injuries in the crash.

The Montana Highway Patrol is assisting GFPD officers and detectives in mapping and investigating the scene. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this crash.

At this point, no charges have yet been filed, and the investigation continues. We will update you if we get more information.

(UPDATE, 10:15 am Friday) The GFPD says that the crash scene has been cleared and traffic is now moving freely along 2nd Avenue North. They added, "Thank you to everyone who showed patience as crews investigated the incident."

(UPDATE, 7:27 am Friday) The crash happened near the intersection of 2nd Avenue North and 44th Street.

As of 7:45 a.m., there is still a police presence in the area, and aerial surveillance is being conducted by a drone. There are still two motorcycles lying in the road.

At about 5:30 a.m., we received the following message: "2nd ave north from 38th street towards the base is closed."

And we received this message just before 7 a.m.: "Any idea why a large portion of 2nd ave N is closed off between 38th and 44th streets? I saw 2 motorcycles down and one car, but there were full on cones and signs blocking the street."

There is no word yet on the condition of any of the people involved in the crash. We have a reporter at the scene and will update you if we get more details.
