HELENA -- The Slim Chickens restaurant that will replace the Taco Johns on Prospect Avenue is scheduled to open in September of 2020.
Preferred Restaurant Group, a franchisee of Taco Johns and Slim Chickens restaurants, told MTN they are very optimistic that they will be able to meet that date. This will be the first Slim Chickens location in Montana according their website, with the nearest being in Minot, North Dakota.
Preferred Restaurant Group's Director of Marketing, Wendy Howe, told MTN that given the proximity of both Taco John's locations, it seemed like a better use of the space.
"That has kind of been some discussions for us for some years is just feeling like, those two locations are so close to each other. Does it make sense?" said Howe. "After we opened the Slim Chickens here in Minot and we've had the ability to see what that restaurant can do --and Minot and Helena are, I would say, similar-ish in size and scope -- that it just became a no brainer for us."
Howe told MTN that given the difference in the two restaurants, Preferred Restaurant Group will have to completely change the inside of the location and plan on hiring staff for it approximately a month before it opens.
