HELENA — Voters around Lewis and Clark County have received their ballots for next month’s school and special district elections.
The Lewis and Clark County Elections Office mailed ballots to voters in the Helena and Canyon Creek school districts, Canyon Creek and Tri-Lakes fire districts and Ranchview water and sewer district. These ballots must be turned in by 8 p.m. on Election Day, May 5.
You can drop ballots off at the county elections office in Helena. Leaders have set up a table to collect them outside the City-County Building, so voters can walk or drive up.
The outdoor drop-off will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day.
If you mail your ballot in, county elections supervisor Audrey McCue recommends getting it in the mail at least a week before May 5 and putting on one first-class stamp.
Ballots for the June 2 state primary – which will include federal, state and county offices – are also being mailed out, as a way to limit the spread of COVID-19. Those ballots will begin going to voters on May 8. The county will prepay the postage for that election.
