HELENA — Due to Lewis and Clark County restrictions, total attendance will be limited to 25 or fewer spectators at winter sporting events during the 2020-21 seasons per a press release from Helena Public Schools.
In the press release, Helena Public Schools stated that if restrictions in Lewis and Clark County lessen for gatherings of more than 25 people, the district plans on crafting a new plan that would introduce more spectators.
In the fall, teams were allowed two spectators per home participant and visitors were allotted one spectator per participant. Now, each home participant will be limited to one spectator, with other limitations depending on the size of the team competing.
As winter sports begin shortly after the turn of the new year, the Helena High and Helena Capital wrestling teams will open their seasons with a crosstown bout, but only the home team will be permitted spectators according to the plan.
Helena Public Schools will also be spacing out the timing of the spectators and only allowing spectators to watch the games their student-athlete is competing in. Spectators will be allowed access to the facilities 20 minutes before the scheduled start of the event. However, if the sporting event that is taking place prior goes longer than scheduled, spectators will not be allowed in until the conclusion of the preceding match.
Much like last fall, passes will interchangeable inside direct family groupings, spectators will be expected to maintain adequate social distance, and spectators will be expected to leave the facility immediately after the contest.
