HELENA — Elected Officials, first responders, future elected officials and Helena Valley workers celebrated Labor Day this evening at Lockey Park.

Friends and family joined in alongside officials and first responders to remember the importance of labor and union laws during the CLC (Montana Central Labor Councils) Labor Day picnic.

2020 Democratic Congress candidates spoke during the celebration, to discuss important matters of everyday working men and women and what the future election holds and their stance on keeping employment rates steady.

Speakers included current Lieutenant Governor Mike Cooney and Helena Mayor Wilmot Collins.

Alan Ekbald, Director of the CLC Labor Day Picnic, told MTN, Well, this is the day that celebrates workers coming together.”

Ekbald continued, “This is the day we celebrate that we have the right to collective bargain. We celebrate the right to fight for decent wages and safe working conditions.”
