HELENA -- As Summer begins to shine down on Montanans, summer camps across the area are preparing to welcome in kids during the COVID-19 era. On June 17, the Helena Family YMCA opened registrations for the facilities Summer day camps, but they'll look far different than they have in the past said Youth Director, Alex Reid.

Campers will be put in groups of no more than 12 kids, and they will stay with the same group for the entire summer, the camp will be held at Lincoln Elementary School, and various COVID-19 prevention policies, like strict sanitation and social distance guidelines, will all be in place.

Despite the changes, Reid said many parents are excited that the YMCA's Summer day camp is getting ready to start once again.

"When we initially started looking towards day camp, instead of enrolling kids, we just took names, numbers, all that and we wound up with like 100 parents that were looking forward to summer camps, said Reid. "It's definitely a positive to see how many people are excited to go to camp."
