HELENA — Helena College University of Montana is gearing up for the 2020 fall semester, and changes for the classes during the COVID-19 pandemic.
On Monday, students picked up “CARES Kits” which include a washable face covering, shammy cloths and a spray bottle of sanitizer for cleaning.
Students and staff are asked this fall to look out for each other by cleaning work areas before they sit down and when they leave.
“We’re asking everyone when they’re on campus to take care of eachother,” said Helena College Acting Dean/CEO Sandy Bauman. This way we’re making sure we’re mitigating risks to the extent possible.”
Helena college will also be taking attendance this year for each class to help with contact tracing should a student or staff member test positive for COVID.
Bauman says students are actively encouraged to stay home if they’re not feeling, and professors will work with them so their school work doesn’t suffer as a result.
"They spent a lot of time structuring their courses so that they’re able to provide both face-to-face instruction, that experience we’re used to, but also find mechanisms to make sure the material is available for anyone who isn’t able to come to campus,” said Bauman.
More information about the COVID-19 plans and courses offered at Helena College can be found on their website.
Classes for the Fall Semester begin Monday, August 17.
