HELENA — The Helena City Commission will vote on a proposed contract for the next city manager at a special meeting next Monday.
Under the proposed contract, Rachel Harlow-Schalk’s first day as city manager would be Oct. 19. The contract would set her salary at $154,000 per year and extend through Dec. 31, 2022, with an optional two-year renewal.
In a memo attached to the meeting agenda, Helena city attorney Thomas Jodoin said Harlow-Schalk had already signed the employment agreement.
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. and will be conducted online through Zoom.
Harlow-Schalk is currently the state of Colorado’s deputy director of local government. Commissioners selected her as their choice to become permanent city manager earlier this month.
Former city manager Ana Cortez left her position in February. Melinda Reed was chosen as the interim city manager, and will serve until a permanent city manager arrives.
