HELENA — Grab some crayons and pencils, the 13th annual “Stuff the Bus” fundraiser is happening.

“Stuff the Bus” is currently parked at Power Townsend, off Custer Ave and is a community-wide school supply drive for students in Helena, East Helena, Townsend, Lincoln and Boulder.

It gives businesses the chance to donate supplies to students who may not be able to purchase them before or during the first few weeks of class.

The current cost for school supplies for one student is estimated between $80 and $100 dollars for elementary school students.

For high school students, it can be between $100 and $150.

Mary Anderson, “Stuff the Bus” Chair said, "And so a lot of parents are trying to choose between clothing for their kids or other items that they've needed; food for the summer, and the school supplies. And they can't afford them at the beginning of the year...So, with "stuff the bus" the community is saying, 'we know it's important for your kid to start ready on the first day, and we want to help you."
