Wildfire near Hot Springs now 50% contained

HOT SPRINGS - The Wilks Fire that is burning about four air miles east of Hot Springs is 50% contained as of Monday morning.

The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes Division of Fire reports the blaze remains at approximately 355 acres.

The fire — which was sparked by lightning on Thursday evening — is burning in sage brush and grass.

No evacuation orders are in effect and no structures are threatened.
