KALISPELL – A wildfire burning northeast of Hot Springs has been determined to be human-caused.

A state fire marshal is now investigating.

The Rattlesnake fire was sparked sometime last Thursday about 10 miles northeast of the town of Hot Springs on the Flathead Indian Reservation.

It is burning in grass and timber, but not near any structures. It’s being managed by the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Division of Fire.

The fire is just over 1,300 acres and is 58 percent contained.

There are 179 personnel assigned to the incident.
