LIBBY – There’s been little change for crews battling a trio of wildfires that are burning on the Kootenai National Forest.

The Ten Mile fire is holding at 681 acres with 91% containment while the nearby Sterling Complex fire has burned a total of 1,216 acres and is 23% contained.

Some firefighters working on the Sterling Complex are temporarily helping out at the nearby Gold Hill fire where the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office issued mandatory and pre-evacuation notices on Monday.

Fire managers report that cooler weather is helping to reduce fire behavior in the area.

A pre-evacuation notice remains in effect for Edna Creek Road, Lake Creek Road, Sutton Ridge Road, and Swamp Creek Road. Residents in those areas are being advised be prepared to evacuate on short notice The most up-to-date evacuation information can be found by calling (406) 293-6295.

Several road and trail closures remain in effect in the area and Stage 2 Fire Restrictions remain in effect in Lincoln County.

All of the blazes were sparked by lightning.
