FEMA approves Montana's application to give those unemployed an additional $400 per week

HELENA — The Montana Department of Labor and Industry announced that the United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has approved Montana’s application for the Lost Wages Assistance Payments grant.

This grant allows the department to give an additional $400 per week to those receiving Unemployment Benefits. $300 dollars will come from FEMA. The other $100 will come from Montana’s CARES Act Coronavirus Relief Fund.

As of August 19th, 2020, Montana is the 8th state to receive the FEMA grant and the only state to establish the weekly additional rate pay of $400.

Assistance payments are scheduled to line up on August 1st of this year. Claimants will receive backdated payments from that week, forward. The grant can last until December 27th, 2020.
