Daines, Bullock discuss barring of Congresswomen to visit Israel

Israel barred two Congresswomen from entering the country last week.

President Benjamin Netanyahu said "the plan of the two Congresswomen is only to damage and to foment against Israel."

Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich. and Ilhan Omar, D-Minn. were barred.

The Interior Minister cited their support for Boycott, Divest and Sanctions (BDS) against Israel.

Tlaib wrote a letter requesting admittance, stating she would "respect restrictions and will not promote boycotts."

Israel agreed and then Tlaib tweeted she decided not to visit under these oppressive conditions.

Gov. Steve Bullock, D-Mont., made an appearance as a Democrat Presidential candidate on Fox News Sunday.

The show's host Dana Perino asked Bullock about the bi-partisan trip to Israel that Tlaib and Omar chose not to make last week.

"Either way at the end of the day, Israel ought to be saying that we welcome members of Congress to come to their country,” Bullock said. “Look, I don't agree with the things some of the members of Congress have said about Israel. I don't agree with the approach. But as a trusted ally, Israel should allow that sort of dissension."

Q2 asked Sen. Steve Daines, R-Mont., about the barred trip Saturday.

He did not talk about the trip, but he did address the representative's support of the Boycott, Divest and Sanctions effort against Israel.

"I'm just very concerned some of the rhetoric I hear from frankly some these extreme left voices I hear in the U.S. House,” Daines said. “They're anti-semitic. They seek to boycott and sanction Israel. I think that's wrong. We need to stand with Israel and there's concern with frankly some of this extreme rhetoric coming out of the U.S. House."

Daines has been on several trips to Israel, which he said is the U.S.'s strongest ally in the middle east.

He said U.S. needs to protect and stand strong with Israel.
