POLSON – A four-year-old Mission Valley boy is in stable condition after the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribal Police removed the child from an abusive home.

Officers were able to find the child at a Ronan area home and determined he was in need of immediate medical attention. He was taken by ambulance to a local hospital prior to being flown to an out-of-state hospital.

Keith Michel Jr., 28, was arrested on an outstanding warrant and later charged with assault on a minor. He’s being now behind bars in the Lake County jail where he’s being held on a $20,000 bond.

A 24-year-old woman was also arrested for an outstanding warrant through tribal court while other children in the home were remanded to Tribal Social Services.

An investigation is continuing and Lake County Sheriff Don Bell says that more charges may be filed as a result of the investigation.
