BILLINGS – The Billings Police Department has launched a homicide investigation following the stabbing death of a man at a downtown restaurant late Wednesday.

In a press release issued Thursday morning, police Lt. Brandon Wooley said the incident at the downtown Hardee’s parking lot was reported at 8:45 p.m.

Officers arrived to find bystanders performing CPR on a 31-year-old man with what appeared to be stab wounds. The man, whose name was not released, was later pronounced dead at a Billings hospital.

Wooley said preliminary information indicates there was a disturbance involving the stabbing victim and two other men, ages 30 and 35. All three were identified as transients staying in the area.

Wooley said the investigation is ongoing and no arrests had been made. He added that police have “no reason to believe the public is in any danger as a result of no arrests
