Sangrey identified as subject of high-risk search warrant in Great Falls

GREAT FALLS – (UPDATE, 3:07 p.m.) The person arrested has been identified by the GFPD as James Joseph Sangrey, 34 years old.

The GFPD says that the incident began just after 1 p.m., and Sangrey was taken into custody at 2:33 p.m.

According to the Montana Department of Corrections, Sangrey has criminal convictions in Cascade County for criminal endangerment and criminal possession of dangerous drugs.

(UPDATE, 2:51 p.m.) The GFPD says that the incident involved a “high-risk search warrant,” but no other details have been released at this point. We will update you when we get more details.

(UPDATE, 2:25 p.m.) At least one person has been handcuffed and taken into custody.

(UPDATE, 2:21 pm) Several police cars are in the area, and have blocked off some of the roads. People are advised to avoid the area if possible. We do not yet know what has triggered this activity.

(1st Report, 2:16 p.m.) We have received several reports that there is large police presence near 11th Avenue South and 18th Street, and the Target store on 20th Street.

We have also received reports that a helicopter is circling overhead in the area, and that the High-Risk Unit vehicle from the GFPD has been sent to the area.
