HELENA – A 41 year-old East Helena man is accused of choking and assaulting a woman Saturday evening.
Scott Van Buskirk appeared in Justice Court Monday, and has been charged with misdemeanor family member assault and felony strangulation of a partner or family member.
Court documents say East Helena police responded to a report of a verbal argument that had turned physical.
Upon arrival, the victim told police Van Buskirk had thrown her against a refrigerator before choking her on the ground.
He also allegedly broke in both the bathroom door and the front door of the residence to get to the victim.
Van Buskirk’s arraignment will be August 29th in District Court. His bond was set at $5,000.
