Police investigating stabbing outside Bozeman mall, suspect still at large

UPDATE, 9:20 p.m.: Bozeman Police Deputy Chief Jim Veltkamp told MTN News the suspect is still at large at this time and police are following leads.

Deputy Chief Veltkamp said this was not a random incident; the suspect and victim, both men, knew each other and had a prior altercation.

No one else was injured in the incident, and police say there is no danger to the public at this time.

UPDATE, 8:19 p.m.: The Regal Gallatin Valley movie theater is being evacuated. Bozeman Police and the Gallatin County Sheriff's Office are searching for the suspect inside the mall. Police tell MTN News everyone who was in the mall is safe.

UPDATE, 7:49 p.m.: Bozeman Police Chief Steve Crawford tells MTN News there is a stabbing investigation underway at the mall. One person was sent to the hospital with serious injuries. Armed officers and K9 units were seen in the mall.

Chief Crawford said it appears to be an isolated incident, and they are looking for a suspect. The public is advised to avoid the area of the mall while the investigation continues.

Our reporter at the scene says officers have guns drawn, and the entrance to the mall by PetCo is taped off.
