New students will be allowed to start moving in at the University of Montana on Wednesday.

UM officials note that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a staggered move-in is scheduled to run from Aug. 12 until Aug. 16 for incoming students attending New Student Orientation.

Families are invited to attend most activities with their students and students who are not living on campus are welcome to join activities on any day.

UM will start the fall semester on Wednesday, Aug. 19 and classes will end on Wednesday, Nov. 25.

Winter break will last until Monday, Jan. 11, 2021, when the spring semester begins.

The University of Montana states that "unless specifically exempted as outlined in the Procedures" all UM employees, students, contractors, vendors and visitors must wear face coverings.

Here is more information on where masks must be worn:

  • Indoor spaces.
  • Enclosed or partially enclosed outdoor spaces.
  • Outdoor settings when people are unable to keep a six-foot distance at all times.
  • University-owned vehicles when more than one person is in a vehicle, including but not limited to ASUM buses and vans.

It was recently announced that UM will offer symptomatic testing at the Curry Health Center for students only. The testing is considered point-of-care, meaning it will only take about an hour to get results.
