Open burning closed in Lincoln

Posted

HELENA – Lewis and Clark County Sheriff Leo Dutton has closed open burning of debris in the Lincoln area.

Dutton made the announcement Tuesday July 2 at the request of Lincoln Fire Chief Zach Muse.

Muse told Dutton he is concerned with the conditions in the area– specifically dry fuels and lower moisture content.

Campfires and fireworks will still be allowed where permitted, but people are asked to take extra care to prevent a potential wildfire.

Open burning will remain closed until further notice.
