Steven Alan Meyers, 20, was seen in Gallatin County Justice Court Monday morning.

According to charging documents, a Gallatin County Sheriff detective received a report of sexual intercourse without consent between Meyers and a 15-year-old girl on April 10, 2019.

The girl confirmed to the detective that she was the victim. Meyers spoke with the detective and confirmed he and the girl had dated for approximately 3 months, while he was 18 and the girl was 13 years old. Meyers also admitted to sexual contact with the victim during those times.

According to court documents: “As the victim was ages 13 and 15 at the time of the incidents, she was not able to consent to sexual intercourse.”

Because the victim was less than 16 years old and Meyers was 4 or more years older than the victim, Montana Code states he could face up to life imprisonment or imprisonment for a term of not less than 4 years or more than 100 years and may be fined not more than $50,000.

Meyers next court appearance is set for May 31, 2019.
