HELENA — The annual “Law Enforcement Torch Run” took a step forward in supporting Montana Special Olympics made its way through Jefferson County and Helena.
The run has been an annual tradition now for over five years.
This leg of the torch’s journey began in Boulder around 10 a.m. Friday morning. Law enforcement officers ran the flame up Interstate 15 to Helena where they arrived around 4:00 p.m.
Every year, the torch of hope travels an average of 2,200 miles through Big Sky Country, as it makes its way to the Special Olympics State Summer Games.
Governor Steve Bullock carried the Torch on its final leg during the race as many Special Olympians, friends, family and supporters cheered as the made they way down to the barbecue.
MTN spoke with several Special Olympians, all excited about their own individual and unique participation in the torch’s journey.
Robin Reagle stated, “The law enforcement torch run goes state-to-state, carrying the torch of hope and they never give up on us.”
Cody Kuhlman told MTN, “And eating the food, and, and, seeing Law People.”
