Lindsey Palmer, the wife of injured Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Wade Palmer, has issued avideo statementexpressing gratitude for the support her family has received throughout her husband’s recovery.

Trooper Palmer, who was shot in the neck, face, and head on March 15 near Missoula, has a long road ahead of him, according to his wife.

“Rehabilitation and more surgeries are in his future, and at this point there is much that is uncertain,” she said. “The path ahead will not be easy, but Wade is tough and he is a fighter.”

Lindsey Palmer said the last few weeks have brought slight improvements to Trooper Palmer’s condition as his personality is slowly re-emerging through his actions.

She added words cannot express the depth of support and love her family is feeling.

“I don’t even know where to begin to thank everyone for your generosity, prayers, and encouragement,” she said. “Never in a million years will a ‘thank you’ be enough for the overwhelming gratitude my family and I feel.”

The video statement was first played at a 301 Strong benefit in Missoula last weekend, which raised money for the Palmers.

Lindsey Palmer remains in Utah with her husband.

Trooper Palmer was one of four victims injured in a series of shootings in March near Evaro and Missoula.

Victim Casey Blanchard continues to recover and has been moved to rehabilitation.

Blanchard was shot eight times including in the left arm, chest, spine, abdomen, and both legs as he exited his vehicle to check on a motorist who he thought needed assistance, according to the Blanchard family.

Shelley Hays, 28, died from his injuries and is remembered as a man who could make friends with strangers and a father who loved his little girl.

He grew up in Missoula and has left behind a lifetime of memories.
