HELENA – A group of young athletes got a special ride to the Vigilante Day Parade on Friday.
The Capital City Ballers were surprised at their school by “Dozer” Dave Turin from the Discovery Channel show “Gold Rush” and “Gold Rush: Dave Turin’s Lost Mine”.
Turin gave the team a ride to the parade in his signature truck and said he’s enjoyed spending time with them.
“I’m working with Brice Stacey their coach and I met the team,” said Turin.
“I gave them an inspirational talk and the team did really well. I want to think it was because of my motivational speech, but probably not,” he joked.
Coach Stacey says the team has come a long way this year, including overcoming some personal tragedy.
“You know the team has had our adversity this year so this is just a great surprise for them. Kind of a end of season ride in the Dozer Truck. So yeah it’s cool,” said Stacey.
Turin is in Montana to look at the ore from some abandoned mines and hopefully do some reclamation work.
Turin added he’s glad to have been able to make Vigilante Day a little extra special for some great kids.
