HELENA – All branches of the Lewis & Clark Library will be closed Monday, May 6th and Tuesday, May 7th so that the staff can undergo training and complete the Library migration to the Montana Shared Catalog.

Systems Manager Matt Beckstrom explains that the process will cause a disruption in services for patrons who use the Library’s online services, saying “in order to migrate to the new system, we need to completely shut down the old system, meaning that patrons will not be able to renew items, place holds on items, or search our catalog during the process.”

Beckstrom is hoping to keep the disruptions to a minimum. “We will work diligently to make the transition as smooth and quick as possible.” “When the Library reopens on Wednesday, May 8th, the Library will be ‘live’ on the Montana Shard Catalog, and the Library staff and Montana Shared Catalog staff will be available to assist patrons with questions.

Lewis & Clark Library Director John Finn announced that patrons will not be charged fines during the closure as there are no items that will be due those two days. “We have already adjusted the checkout period so that items will not be due during the time our system is down.”
