Kalispell teen killed after vehicle crashes into home

KALISPELL – A sleeping teen died early Friday morning after a vehicle ran into an Evergreen home.

Jared Parsons, 31, of Kalispell is facing a Vehicular Negligent Homicide charge after ramming into the home

Flathead County Sheriff Brian Heino says that at around 2 a.m. on Friday a vehicle traveling on Spring Creek Drive struck a home, killing Erin Howk, 15, of Kalispell.

Parsons, 31, of Kalispell is currently being held without bond in the Flathead County jail on pending Vehicular Negligent Homicide, Failure to Remain at the Scene of an Accident and Driving while Suspended charges.

The Montana Highway Patrol tells MTN News that alcohol and speed are suspected factors in this crash.

MHP says the road was bare and dry at the time of the accident.

Columbia Falls high school officials say Howk was a Freshman at the school. Counselors and other support staff have been available to students throughout the day and will continue to be as needed, according to a Facebook post Friday afternoon.

The case is currently under investigation by the Montana Highway Patrol.
