HELENA – This year’s winners of the Eco-Star Awards were held in the Capitol Rotunda Wednesday, acknowledging recipients for their efforts in eco-friendly practices.
Governor Steve Bullock spoke at the ceremony.
Winners included restaurants, brew houses and even auto repair shops across the state of Montana.
The event was sponsored by Montana State University’s Extension “Pollution Prevention Program”.
Allison Collins, Director of sustainability for Glacier Restaurant Group and general manager for Mackenzie River Pizza, was there to accept an award, telling MTN this recognition was is only important to them, but important for the environment.
Collins stated, “Training our staff to be more mindful of electricity usage, water usage, how they use to-go containers…their habits; turning lights off and everything. We have a strong reduction initiative that we are really proud of, so we are here, and we’ve deferred almost a million straws from the Montana landfills.”
This is Mackenzie River’s 11th year win for an Eco-Star Award.
